Four Tigers Named NSCAA All-Region

PRINCETON, N.J. - Defender Heather Deerin (So., Livingston, N.J.) and midfielder Julie Shaner (Sr., Gwynedd Valley, Pa.) were named to the first-team All-Mid-Atlantic Region women's soccer team today. Goalkeeper Jordan Rettig (Sr., West Hartford, Conn.) and defender Jenny Lankford (Sr., Charlotte, N.C.) were named to the second team.
Deerin and Lankford anchored the Princeton defense which allowed only two goals in league play, eight overall. Deerin was also the second leading scorer on the team with three goals and four assists. Shaner was the third leading scorer with three goals and two assists. Rettig finished the season with nine shutouts and the sixth best goals-against average, 0.48, in the nation.
Princeton finished the season with a 13-5 overall record, 6-1 in the Ivy League. The Tigers were the 2000 Ivy League co-champions, the first title since 1982. Princeton lost to Wisconsin 1-0 in double overtime in the first round of the NCAA tournament. It was the second consecutive post-season appearance for Princeton.
