Jackson, N.J. - One year after finally pushing past Yale to win its first Ivy League championship, the women's golf team once again fell just short to its nemesis as the league championship was contested at Pine Barrens Golf Course. The Tigers two-day total of 650 was 10 strokes behind Yale, which rode a strong opening round to the victory.
Princeton had the best final round of any team, shooting a 322. Unfortunately, there was simply too much ground to make up. Yale held a 13-stroke lead after blistering the course for an opening-round 315.
The Tigers had two players named first-team all-Ivy. Adrienne Gill (Jr., Chatham, N.J.) finished in a tie with Yale's Sarah Seo for the individual lead, but lost the title on a playoff hole. Gill's total was 153 (77-76). Vanessa Redman (Fr., Orinda, Calif.) finished third with a 158 (80-78).
Other Princeton scorers were Natalie Christiansen (Jr., Temple Terrace, Fla.), who finished 10th with a 168 (82-86), Megan Milam (Fr., Idaho Falls, Id.), who finished 15th with a 173 (89-84) and Meagan Smith (Sr., Orillia, Ont.), who finished 16th with a 176 (92-84).
Princeton was the defending league champion, defeating Yale by two strokes for the first time in the then three-year history of the tournament.
