Men's Tennis Team Victorious in Ivy Opener

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The University of Pennsylvania men's tennis team fell to Princeton, 5-2, in the Ivy League opener for both teams Saturday afternoon at the Lott Courts.
The Tigers (12-5, 1-0) opened a 1-0 lead with a sweep of three highly contested doubles matches, all of which ended 8-6.
Tight play continued in singles action, where every match included a set that went seven games. Freshman Ryan Harwood (Valley Stream, N.Y.) defeated Judson Williams, 6-2, 7-5, at the No. 3 position for Penn's first win of the day.
Junior Joe Zupan (Los Angeles, Calif.) picked up the Quakers' second point with a win over Darren Joe at No. 5. After dropping the first set, 7-6, Zupan rebounded to take the next set by a 6-3 score before Joe retired in the third.
Princeton claimed close victories at Nos. 1, 2, 4 and 6 to take the match.
