NCAA Women's Tennis Selections Announced, Tigers To Face Lady Vols

PRINCETON, N.J. - After winning the Ivy League women's tennis title for the first time since 1994, Princeton is headed to Williamsburg, Va., to take on the Tennessee Lady Vols in the first round of the 2000 NCAA tournament beginning May 12th or 13th on the campus of William and Mary.
The 2000 Championships are complied of a 64-team field broken into 16 four-team regional brackets with competition taking place at the top 16 seeds. With a 13-2 overall record and the League's automatic bid, Princeton is making its first appearance in the NCAA tournament since 1983, when the Tigers lost to Stanford.
"We had a great season, and we are excited it continues," said head coach Louise Gengler. "We are looking forward to a good match against a Top 20 team."
The Lady Vols enter the tournament with an 18-11 overall record and are making their sixth consecutive tournament appearance.
The other first round match features William and Mary against Loyola (Md.). Second round play is scheduled for Sunday, May 14th.
