Ivy Champs!!! Princeton Tops Brown For Share Of League Title
April 19, 2026 | Women's Tennis
Madeleine Jessup closed out her match at No. 4 singles and in the process Princeton's 4-1 win over Brown and was pretty much immediately mobbed by her teammates. This wasn't your usual "we won" moment though.
This was a Championship Moment, one that included a trophy, championship hats and a banner, all of which figured in photos and videos that the team shot to celebrate.
The win over Brown earned Princeton a share of the 2026 Ivy League championship, the program's 19th all-time and fifth in the last six seasons. The Tigers tied with Yale for the title at 6-1 each.
The first four singles matches were at No. 1, 2, 4 and 6, and Ferlito and Chhiv at 1 and 2 won in straight sets. Brown got a point back at No. 6, but Jessup rallied from a set down to take her match 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 to get the win — and the championship.
The NCAA selections will be announced a week from Monday. Princeton does not have the automatic bid.

The teams played indoors due to the heavy Providence rain that could be heard pelting the roof, which covered Browns' four-court setup. Princeton thundered through the doubles, winning at No. 2 (Eva Elbaz and Bella Chhiv) and No. 3 (Alice Ferlito and Maren Urata) both at 6-1 and leading at No. 1 (Pearlie Zhang and Tsehay Driscoll) by a 5-2 count when it was abandoned. That Championship Moment pic.twitter.com/nNfX8xhceR
