Women's Tennis Team Earns Academic Honors

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton women's tennis team was named to the ITA's National Academic Team with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. As a result of the honor, the team will be receive a distinction in the association's national newsletter and yearbook.
Amanda Hastings-Phillips (Laguna Beach, Calif.) was named an Academic All-America for the second consecutive season. She graduated in June with a 3.5 GPA and a degree in Religion. Hastings-Phillips had a 23-10 (.697) overall record and a 7-3 record in invitational tournaments. She played primarily as Princeton's No. 2 or 3 singles player and had several matches at the No. 1 slot. She teamed with Gailor Large as the Tigers' top doubles team. Together they were ranked in the Top 3 in the East Region throughout the year.
Princeton finished the season with a 17-3 record and a perfect 7-0 record in the Ivy League. The unblemished league mark was Princeton's first since 1980. The Tigers won the ECAC championship in the fall of 1999 and advanced to the NCAA tournament as the Ivy League champion before falling to Tennessee in the first round.
