Women's Tennis Advances To Doubles Finals

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton University women's tennis team began fall play as they hosted the Fall Princeton Invitational at Pagoda Courts on Friday afternoon. The tournament showcased the A and B Flights for doubles in which the Tigers advanced three teams to the finals.
Avanti Bhargava (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) and Matey McCoy (Biscayne, Fla.) beat Leigh Ann Merryman and April Uy of Penn State (8-6) and Maria Elena de Valle and Lauren Cheung from Brown (8-1) to make it into the A Flight final. The duo will face Penn State's Kristin Nowicki and Teresa Whiteside.
In the B Flight, tennis fans will be treated to an all-Princeton final featuring partners Jackie Arcario Longwood, Fla.) and Alexandra Kobishyn against Katie Milkman (McLean, Va.) and Maria Livadiotis (South Windsor, Conn.).
Arcario and Kobishyn took in victories of 9-8 (4) and 9-7, while Milkman and Livadiotis had a much easier time advancing with scores of 8-1 and 8-1.
