PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton women's soccer team dropped its first game of the season 1-0 to Rutgers Tuesday night at Princeton Stadium. Keri Lages scored in the 33rd minute for the Scarlet Knights and goalkeeper Jordan Rettig gave up her first goal of the year. Princeton had not given up a goal through five games this season.
The Tigers fought back hard in the second half and dominated offensively but could not convert on several scoring opportunities. Rutgers goalkeeper Christine Caldwell made six saves in the second half, 10 for the game.
"I though we struggled a bit in the first half, we looked flat," said head coach Julie Shackford. "We didn't dominate the midfield enough in the first half and by that time it was too late. Amee Reyes had chances in the second that I thought should have been put away but Rutgers defended really well. It was the first half that really killed us."
Princeton (5-1, 2-0 Ivy) is back in action at Columbia on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 2:30 p.m.
