Coltman and McCauhey Win Events at National Open

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Freshmen Susan Coltman and Josh McCauhey got the Princeton track and field team off to a good start Friday by winning events on the first day of competition at the National Open hosted by Penn State. Coltman won the women's pentathlon with a score of 3,537 points while McCauhey won the 35 lb. weight throw with a NCAA provisional qualifying toss of 64' 11.50".
Cameron Atkinson placed seventh in the 60-meter dash (6.89), Jon Bell (14:38.20) and Ryan Teising (14:51.30) placed 10th and 16th in the seeded 5,000 meter run. Tyler Bengtson placed fourth in the men's pentathlon with 3, 526 points and the men's distance medley relay team placed 13th (10:23.18). Laura Shackelton (18:21.96) finished 14th in the seeded 5,000 meters and the women's distance medley relay team placed seventh (12:05.86).
The final day of competition resumes tomorrow, Jan. 27, at 10:00 a.m.
