Princeton Hosts 2001 ECAC Women's Tennis Championships

Princeton, N.J. - Kavitha Krishnamurthy (Jr. Oakville, Ontario) and Kristi Watson (Sr. Prairie Village, Kans.) were the lone Tigers to win singles matches against the Bulldogs, as Princeton fell to Yale, 5-2 in second round action of the 2001 ECAC women's tennis championships. Watson, teamed with Priya Bhupathi, (Sr. Staten Island, N.Y.) won their No. 2 doubles match but the Tigers dropped the No. 1 and No. 3 matches, allowing Yale to capture the doubles' point. Yale is the No. 4 seed in the tournament, Princeton is the No. 8 seed.
Earlier in the day the Tigers defeated the Hoyas of Georgetown, 7-0. Yale defeated Rutgers University 7-0 to advance to the second round. Princeton will face No. 6 Cornell at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow on the Pagoda Courts. Yale will face No. 1 Harvard at 2:30 at the Lenz Center.
