Princeton, N.J. - Junior goalie Jason White registered five saves and Princeton's defense pitched a shutout in Wednesday night's 0-0 tie against Loyola. Princeton came into the contest ranked one spot below Loyola in the collegesoccer.com media poll. Loyola entered as No. 16 with a 10-1-1 record. The Tigers move to 5-2-3 with the tie.
Graeme Rein picked up a key save at 56:44 when Loyola's Miguel Abreu slipped past White on a breakaway. Marty Shaw cleared the ball at 102:48 on the only other occasion Loyola got the ball past White. The shutout is Princeton's seventh of the season.
The Tigers won the corner kick battle with eight attempts compared to Loyola's three. Mike Nugent, Princeton's leading scorer, had four shots, one of which was on goal. Loyola goalie Reb Beatty finished with three saves on the night.
Princeton travels to American on Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. contest. The Tigers return to Lourie-Love Field next Friday, Oct. 26 when they take on Ivy League foe Cornell.
