Big Red Too Much For Princeton

Princeton, N.J. - Eighteen second quarter points proved to be too much for Princeton as the Tigers dropped a 24-6 decision to Cornell in sprint football action on Friday night. The loss moves Princeton to 0-4 on the year and lifts Cornell to a 2-2 mark.
Princeton managed 185 yards total offense with Christian Gomez picking up 81 yards on the ground. L.T. Lawler threw for 97 yards, completing 9 of 26 passes. The Tigers scored with 1:47 to go in the first half when Gomez hit paydirt on a three-yard run. Princeton's touchdown made it 18-6 at the intermission.
Cornell scored as the third quarter closed when quarterback Sunil Gupta hit Michael Ormsby on an eight-yard slant. Neither team reached the endzone in the fourth quarter with both squads having a hard time holding onto the football. Princeton could not overcome five turnovers on the night. The Tigers now have 15 in four games.
The loss to Cornell is the second on the year. Princeton opened the season with a 27-6 loss at Ithaca on Sept. 29. The Tigers head to Navy next weekend to face the Midshipmen in a 7:30 p.m. showdown.
