Princeton, NJ - Princeton senior forward Mike Nugent (West Windsor, N.J.) was named the IvyLeagueSports.com Player of the Week after scoring three goals in two games over the weekend. Nugent supplied Princeton with all its offense in a 2-1 double-overtime victory against Cornell and a 1-1 tie against No. 7 Indiana.
Nugent scored Friday night's game-winner against Cornell with three minutes remaining in the final overtime period. The two-goal game was his third of the season. Nugent also scored two goals against Monmouth on Sept. 8 and two goals against Dartmouth on Sept. 22.
On Sunday, Nugent scored the game-tying goal at 39:14 when he beat two Indiana defenders off a cross from teammate Matt Douglas. The goal was his 10th of the season and moved his point total to 23, both of which are team highs.
Nugent was recognized as IvyLeagueSports.com Player of the Week back on Sept. 24 after his second two-goal game. He was named second-team All-Ivy last season after missing seven games due to injury. This season he leads the conference in shots (58), points (23) and goals (10).
