Tigers Top Rival Penn In Early Season Meeting

Philadelphia, Pa. - The 25th-ranked Princeton women's swim team defeated Ivy rival Pennsylvania 163-126 on Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia. The Tigers led by as much as 100-31 after the 50-meter freestyle, but Penn battled for the final ten events, and closed the gap before eventually falling.
Senior Danielle Stramandi continued her early-season dominance on the boards with victories on both the 1- and 3-meter events. Fellow senior Kate Conroy won the 100-meter backstroke (58.06) ahead of junior teammate Michelle Nielson (58.21), giving Princeton a 60-14 lead after four events.
Conroy's victory in the 200 back put the Tigers up 137-51 and Lauren Rossi's win in the 200-meter breaststroke (2:23.87) gave Princeton a 151-56 edge. Stramandi extended the Tiger lead to 163-95 with performance on the 3-meter board as Princeton moved to 2-0 on the year.
