The Princeton men's soccer team won without playing today.
Brown defeated Harvard 3-0 in Cambridge Saturday afternoon to knock the Crimson out of first place and leave the Tigers tied with Brown for the Ivy League championship. In addition, Princeton earns the Ivy League's automatic berth in the NCAAtournament, whose pairings will be announced Monday, by virtue of its win over Brown earlier this season.
Princeton, who has not played since last Saturday, finished its season 5-1-1 in the Ivy League. Entering today's game, Brown was 4-1-1, while Harvard was 5-1, which meant that a Harvard win would mean an outright championship for the Crimson.
On the other hand, a Brown win would mean a shared title between Princeton and Brown, while a tie between Brown and Harvard would mean a shared title between Harvard and Princeton. Brown dominated the game against the Crimson, giving Princeton a piece of the championship.
Princeton has won two Ivy men's soccer titles in the last three years.
