BLAIRSTOWN, N.J. -Greg Parker (Jr., Clifton Park, NY), ranked No. 15 in the nation at 174 pounds, defeated No. 11 Tyler Nixt of Iowa, but it was not enough as the Princeton wrestling team fell to the fourth-ranked Hawkeyes, 36-7, on Saturday night at Blair Academy.
Milo Adams (So, Mentor, OH) started the match with a 7-5 decision over Iowa's Josh Budke at 149 pounds. The Tigers would drop the nest two matches however as #12 Matt Anderson defeated Albert Pendleton (Sr., Atlanta, GA), 19-8, and Ben Shirk earned a tight 3-2 win over Jon Bunt (Sr., Pittsburgh, PA) at 165.
Parker got the Tiger's back on track when he picked up a major decision over Nixt, 19-8, but Princeton dropped the next six matches to fall, 36-7.
Iowa's sixth-ranked Jessman Smith defeated Anthony DeBartolo (Sr., Pittsburgh, PA) 22-5 at 184 pounds, while teammate Trey Clark defeated Matt Fisher (So., Pompton Lakes, NJ), 12-8, at 197 pounds.
Princeton's Joe Looke (So., Houston, TX) was pinned in 2:37 by No. 5 Steve Mocco. The Hawkeyes' Luke Eustice came away with a 12-4 win over Brian Kirshbaum (So., Livingston, NJ) at 125 and No. 9 Marc Juergens defeated John Knorring (Jr., Wheaton, IL), 19-1, at 133. No. 15 Luke Moffitt pinned Juan Venturi (Sr., Katy, TX) in 1:27 at 142 to end the match.
The Tigers will travel to Evanston, Ill. on Dec. 8 for the Northwestern duals where they will face the hosts, as well as Eastern Michigan and Wisconsin-Parkside.
