Princeton, N.J. - Senior Mike Nugent wrapped up his collegiate soccer experience by being honored as a second-team All-America selection. Nugent had already garnered Ivy League Player of the Year and first-team Mid-Atlantic Region awards prior to today's announcement.
Nugent finished the year with 12 goals and six assists, earning Ivy Player of the Week honors twice while leading Princeton to its sixth Ivy League title. He was a unanimous first-team All-Ivy selection this season, leading the league in points, shots and goals. He ended his Princeton career tied for fourth all-time in career goals and sixth for most career points at Princeton.
Nugent led a Princeton team that finished 10-3-5 and ranked 12th nationally at the regular season's end. His Ivy League Player of the Year award was only the second in program history and the first since current Head Coach Jim Barlow won the award in 1990.
Nugent was the only Ivy League player to be named to the 2001 NCAA All-America teams. Princeton has had 11 previous All-America selections.
