Princeton Knocks Off Rutgers, in Women's Tennis Action

Piscataway, N.J. - PISCATAWAY, NJ (March 28, 2001) - The Princeton University women's tennis team captured five of six singles matches, as well as the doubles point, to defeat Rutgers, 6-1, today in Piscataway. With the win, Princeton is now 2-4 and Rutgers falls to 6-11.
The lone RU win of the day came at fourth singles, as junior Amanda Travlos upended Princeton's Avanti Bhargava in three sets. Travlos dropped the first set, 4-6, but rallied to take the second 6-3 and third 11-9.
Sophomore Jennifer Hellier was the only other Scarlet Knight to win a set, falling to Princeton's Priya Bhupathi at second singles, 6-2, 2-6, 7-10.
This victory follows a tough match up against UAB in which the Tigers lost 6-1.Princeton will host Virginia Commonwealth University on Sunday April 1, 2001
