Princeton, N.J. - The Crimson of Harvard University proved to be too much for the Tigers today as they dropped the match 5-2. Senior Kyle Kliegerman won his singles match and his doubles match, playing along side senior John Portlock, in the Tiger loss. Princeton now stands at 8-8 in the season and 3-1 in the Ivy League.
The Crimson came into today's match with a 3-0 record in the Ivy League, they were expected to provide some tough competition. Kliegerman won his no. 1 singles match, defeating William Lee 6-3,3-6,7-6 (8). Kliegerman, who won his singles match yesterday in three sets against a strong Dartmouth opponent, picked up today's victory in the third set tiebreaker. Princeton's Judson Williams, who has won his last six matches playing in the no. 2 spot, earned the Tigers their second point when he defeated Cliff Nguyen 6-3,6-4. Kliegerman and Portlock won their no. 1 doubles match yet the Crimson picked up the doubles point winning two of three matches.
The Tigers battled hard against Harvard. Several Princeton athletes won their first sets against their opponents but they were unable to pull out the victory. Tim Kofol, playing fifth singles, had a difficult loss against Harvard's George Turner. Kofol won the first set, lost the second set 7-5 and then dropped the final set 6-3.
The Tigers will host Columbia on Friday, April 20 at 2 p.m.
