PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton University women's tennis team defeated the Bears of Brown, 5-2 improving their record to 5-7. For the Tigers, this was their first Ivy League victory of the season, after dropping to Penn last week, and is a good precursor to tomorrow's match against Yale.
Gailor Large, who came into today's match off a stunning victory over nationally ranked Martina Nedelkova (4) of VCU, defeated Heather Young in the top singles match, 6-2, 6-3. Princeton's Priya Bhupathi defeated Bridget Barbera, in the third singles match, 6-2,6-0. Senior, Anne Coates and freshman, Jackie Arcario both won their singles match.
The final Tiger point came from Princeton winning 2 out of the 3 doubles matches. The Tigers are still missing their no. 1 and 2 players, Kavitha Krishnamurthy and Shikha Uberoi, who have battled injures for the majority of the season.
Princeton hosts Yale tomorrow at noon.
