Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Tigers lost their final two games of the season to the Eagles of Boston College. Princeton dropped the first game, 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning. Unable to stir up any offense, the Tiger were shutout in the second game, 6-0. For first year head coach Maureen Davies, today's doubleheader completes her first season, in which Princeton finishes at 20-19.
The Eagles jumped to a 1-0 lead in the third inning. The Tigers soon tied the game at one apiece in the forth inning when Brie Galicinao belted a solo home run over the left-centerfield wall. Galicinao's solo shot would be the only run the Tigers would have cross the plate all day.
Galicinao, the losing pitcher in today's first game and Boston College's pitcher, Kim Ryan kept the scores even over the next two and a half innings. A costly error by the Tigers in the first game allowed Boston College's Cara Blumfield to score when she came home on a bunt that was bobbled by Princeton's first baseman. Galicinao allowed only four hits and struck-out nine faced batters. She allowed one earned run.
Boston College scored two runs in the first inning of the second game and never looked back. Blumfield picked up three RBIs when she had a three-run shot in the fifth. Boston College added one more run in the sixth to take the nightcap, 6-0.
Freshman, Wendy Bingham, was in the pitcher's circle for the Tigers in the second game. She allowed eight hits and struck-out seven Eagles. She gave up five earned runs. Freshman Kelly Gaydos, came in to relieve Bingham and pitched for one inning. Gaydos gave up one hit and allowed one run to cross the plate.
