Judson Williams Wins Tennis' Farnsworth Invitational

Princeton N.J. - Judson Williams defeated teammate Darren Joe in the final match to take the 2001 Farnsworth / Princeton Invitational title, 6-2, 7-5. Williams was the heavy favorite entering today's final match as he began the tournament as the No. 1 seeded player. Joe entered the tournament unseeded yet battled his way to the final match with a victory over Chris Shackelton of Yale in yesterday's semifinals.
The last Tiger to capture the Farnsworth title was Kyle Kliegerman '01 back in 1999.
Ryan Coyle and Shackelton of Yale defeated Lynn and Fanda Stejaskal of UPenn, 8-6 in the doubles final to take the championships. Princeton's teams of Tim Kofol / Judson Williams and Hendrick Chasse / Daniel Friedman were defeated in the semifinals.
Princeton's, Brian Nachtigall won the consolation bracket by winning five straight matches.
