This weekend the Princeton men's hockey team will open up the season with a pair of exhibition games in anticipation of next weekend's regular season opener. The Tigers will host the U.S. National Under-18 Team on Saturday night a 7 p.m. and then face Western Ontario on Sunday at 4 p.m.
Both Tiger opponents have played against NCAA Division I teams this season. The U.S. National Under-18 Team is 7-6-0 overall and 2-4-0 against college opponents. Western Ontario is 0-5-0 overall and 0-3-0 in exhibition games versus U.S. college teams.
Princeton will be led on the ice by senior captain George Parros. As Princeton's leading returning scorer, he will be looked to help increase the Tigers' goal production this season. Assistant captains, Neil McCann and Scott Prime, will provide additional leadership.
The Tigers will dress a lineup that features 12 new faces after losing seven seniors to graduation. Princeton has 10 freshmen on this year's roster and returns two sophomores to the program after taking a year off.
Head coach Len Quesnelle returns for his third season behind the bench as Princeton's head coach. He has amassed a 22-34-7 record in his time at Princeton, including back-to-back seasons at or above .500 in league play, marking the first-time in the history of the Princeton hockey program that the Tigers have achieved this.
Saturday's game is slated for 7 p.m., and Sunday's is set for 4 p.m. Princeton officially opens the 2002-03 season next weekend, hosting No. 7 North Dakota on Friday and visiting No. 11 Providence on Sunday.
