Box Score
New York, N.Y. - Sophomore Adrian Melville scored what appeared to be the go-ahead goal in Princeton's men's soccer match versus Columbia on Saturday, knocking in the game's first score in the 79th minute of play. That goal, however, was waived off because of a penalty and the Lions capitalized with Tommy McMenemy breakaway goal in the 85th minute, giving Columbia a 1-0 win at Lions Stadium.
The Tigers had three shots on goal while the Lions had only two. Sophomore Erik White, who replaced brother Jason after an injury in the Dartmouth game last Saturday, started his second game, recording one save in 90 minutes of action.
Princeton is now 1-5-2 and 0-2 in conference play. In their five losses, the Tigers have been outscored by a total of five goals. Columbia improves to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in the Ivy League.
Next up for the Tigers is American University. The Eagles visit Lourie-Love Field next Wednesday night, Oct. 9 at 7:30 p.m. American is the first of three straight non-conference opponents for Princeton.
