Dan Hursh scored Princeton's only goal in a 4-1 loss to Union Friday night at Baker Rink. Union scored twice in the first period and never looked back as they earned their fourth win of the season. The loss dropped Princeton to 0-5-0.
The Dutchmen scored their first goal at 7:39 of the first period when Matt Vagvolgyi scored on a wrist shot from the high slot. Union made it a 2-0 game just over two minutes later when Nathan Gilles scored on a blast from the point following an offensive zone faceoff win. Gillies goal came on the power-play.
Union extended the lead to three midway through the second period. Max Seel shot in his own rebound for his first of the season.
Princeton roared back in the third period, controlling much of the play and getting on the scoreboard at 5:54. Tommy Colclough controlled the puck behind the net and fed Dan Hursh, who one-timed the pass past Union goaltender Kris Mayotte for his first goal of the season. Scott Prime also assisted ion the goal. Union closed out the scoring with an empty-net goal at 19:56 of the third period.
Mayotte made 25 saves in earning the win, while Eric Leroux stopped 22 shots in a losing effort.
The Tigers (0-5-0) close out their homestand tomorrow night against Rensselaer at 7:00 p.m.
