Water Polo Falls to Navy 9-6 in Southern Championships

Princeton, N.J. - The Tigers could not hold back a surging Navy team as the Midshipmen rallied from a 4-3 deficit at halftime to win the match 9-6 and the tournament title at the Collegiate Water Polo Association Southern Divisional Championships. With the second place finish, the Tigers advance to the Eastern Championships as the No. 2 seed from the south.
Navy opened a 2-1 lead in the first quarter but the Tigers took a 4-3 lead into half time. Robert Urquhart scored two of his three goals in the second quarter. Navy held Princeton scoreless in the third as the Midshipmen opened a 7-4 advantage. Princeton missed on four man-up opportunities that translated to two Navy transition goals and the Tigers could not catch the Midshipmen.
Kevin foster, John Stover and Derrick Wong each had one goal in the loss. Peter Sabbatini had five saves in the match for Princeton.
The Tigers will face Brown in the opening round of the Eastern Championships that will be held in Providence, R.I. on November 16-17.
