Princeton, N.J. - The Tigers kicked off their indoor track and field season on Saturday evening with the Princeton Invitational, a non-team scoring event that featured over 550 athletes from 14 teams. Included in the meet were Heptagonal rivals Penn and Columbia.
Carrie Strickland captured the 1,000m title for Princeton, crossing the finish line at 3:01.49. Teammate Lindsay Cole finished third in the race with a time of 3:07.00. Liz Morse finished second in the 500m dash with a time of 16.63. Carolyn Cross and Ruth Connolly finished seventh and eighth with times of 1:20.48 and 1:21.29.
Chanel Lattimer finished fourth in the 300m, crossing the line at 41.87. Leslie Warren and Juliette Poussot finished seventh and eighth with times of 42.66 and 42.68.
Hassina Outtz recorded the second fastest qualifying time in the women's 55m hurdles (8.67) then placed second in the finals (8.46) behind Shameka Marshall of Rutgers who crossed the line at 8.28. Brooke Minor finished tied for first-place with Kerry Ann Mitchell of Rutgers in the high jump when she cleared 1.70m. Alison Brawner finished in second-place for Princeton, clearing 1.65m.
Meredith Mante and Dalia Bach finished first and second in the pole vault. Mante, a freshman, cleared 3.35m to capture the title. Bach vaulted over 3.05m. Poussot finished third in the long jump with a mark of 5.34.
Betsy Kennedy finished third in the weight throw with a mark of 14.68m.
