Parker Named Wrestling First-Team All-Ivy

PRINCETON, NJ - Greg Parker (Sr., Clifton Park, NY) was named to the first-team All-Ivy League at 174 pounds, as was announced on March 27. Juan Venturi (Sr., Katy, TX) joins Parker on the earned second-team All-Ivy honors at 141 lbs.
Parker completed his season with just two losses and an overall record of 33-2. He ran the tables in Ivy action this season, posting a 5-0 record. Parker became Princeton's first EIWA champion in 16 years, earning a bid into the NCAA tournament. Ranked fifth going into the tournament, Parker upset the No. 1 seed en route to a berth in the finals, where he dropped a 12-5 decision to Greg Jones of West Virginia. He was the fifth wrestler in Princeton history to reach the finals, and the first since John Orr in 1984-85. The top 8 finish earned Parker All-America honors. An honorable mention All-Ivy selection in 2000-01, Parker was named to the second-team All-Ivy as a freshman.
A second-team All-Ivy selection in 2000-01, Venturi served as one of the team's captains during the 2001-02 season.
Princeton finished the season with a 4-18 record, including a 0-5 mark in the Ivy League.
