PRINCETON, NJ - Stephanie Berg and Alex Kobishyn picked up an 8-3 win at third doubles, but that was the only win that Princeton could post as its Ivy League season got off to a rocky start with a 7-0 loss to No. 45 Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon at the Lenz Tennis Center.
Berg and Kobishyn defeated Katherine Williams and Nicole Ptak but the Quakers were victorious in the other two match-ups to clinch the doubles point. Princeton's No. 1 doubles pairing of Priya Bhupathi and Kristi Watson lost toe Sanela Kunovac and Rachel Shweky 8-2. The second double team of Avantika Bhargava and Kavitha Krishnamurthy lost to the Penn pairing of Alice Pirsu and Shelah Chao 8-3.
Krishnamurthy took the first set 7-6 (3) from Pirsu, but dropped the next two sets 6-2, 6-2 at first singles. Kristin Watson dropped the first set to Kunovac, came back to win the second 6-4, but fell in the third 6-3.
