Women's Tennis Falls Short Against #57 Harvard

PRINCETON, NJ - Kavitha Krishnamurthy, ranked No. 69, defeated No. 23 Courtney Bergman 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (3) at first singles, but the was the only win Princeton would earn as the Tigers lost to Harvard 6-1 in women's tennis action on Saturday afternoon. Princeton drops to 7-9 with the loss.
The Crimson swept the doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead. Courtney Bergman and Susanna Lingman handed Krishnamurthy and Avantika Bhargava an 8-5 loss at the No. 1 position. The Tigers' Priya Bhupathi and Kristi Watson dropped an 8-5 loss to Sanja Bajin and Alexis Martin. Stephanie Berg and partner Alex Kobishyn suffered a tough 9-8 (4) loss to Sarah McGinty and Fleur Boughton at third doubles.
Krishnamurthy's win highlighted singles play for the Tigers. Watson lost to No. 58 Lingman 6-2, 6-3 at second singles, while Bhupathi dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision No. 103 Martin at third singles. Berg took Bajin to three sets at fourth singles, but still lost 6-2, 1-6, 6-2. Jackie Arcario lost to Boughton 6-1, 6-4 at fifth, and Kristi Carlin was defeated by Lara Nagoshibandi 6-3, 6-4.
