Final Stats
Hanover, N.H. - Kristin Lueke led the Tigers at the plate, batting two-for-four and tallying two RBIs as Princeton dismantled Dartmouth in the first game of the doubleheader, 9-1. Kristin Del Calvo's three-run blast in the fifth inning highlighted the 5-1 Princeton victory in the nightcap. Princeton improves to 23-15, 9-1 Ivy while Dartmouth slips to 17-11, 4-4 Ivy.
It took the Tigers a bit to get on the scoreboard in the first game, posting their first run in the third when Del Calvo's single scored Wendy Bingham. Princeton turned on the offense, tallying three runs in the fourth and three in the fifth to open a 7-0 lead. The Tigers added two more in sixth to increase the lead to 9-0. Dartmouth got one run on the board in the sixth, but the game ended early in six innings. Kristin Del Calvo went two-for-four at the plate with one RBI as did Becky Nemec. Erin Valocsik went two-for-four, scoring two runs and Melissa Finley went two-for-three with two RBIs and two runs scored. In all the Tigers registered 14 hits
Brie Galicinao was the winning pitcher in the game, striking out five Big Green batters and allowed only five hits. Galicinao is now 12-6 on the season, 5-0 against Ivy competition. In 34 innings of Ivy work she has allowed only four runs to cross the plate.
Princeton jumped to an early 1-0 lead in the second game when Mackenzie Forsythe's single to left field scored Kim Veenstra in the second inning. Dartmouth answered with one run in the bottom of the second. Veentra's double in the third inning scored Lueke as the Tigers went up 2-1.
Kristin Del Calvo's three run blast over the left field fence in the fifth inning also scored Galicinao and Lueke and put the Tigers up 5-1. Forsythe finished the game batting three-for-three at the plate. Veenstra went two-for-four and Del Calvo hit three-for-four.
Melissa Finley picked up the complete game victory, striking out one Dartmouth batter and allowing five hits. Finley improves to 5-5 on the season.
The Tigers return to Ivy action when they host Yale on Saturday, April 20 at 1:00 p.m.
