Princeton Rows To Victory On Waters Of Lake Carnegie

Princeton, N.J. - Near ideal racing conditions at the start of the day propelled the Princeton women's open crew to victory over Yale while the men's lightweight team edged out Cornell to make it a Tiger sweep at Lake Carnegie on Saturday morning.
The open crew won the Eisenburg Cup with a time of 6:53.8, a little more than two seconds ahead of Yale. The women's crews won all the varsity races of the day, taking the Second Varsity race in 7:04.6. The Varsity Four earned an open-water victory with a time of 7:51.2 as the Novice 8 boat was edged out by 1.4 seconds, losing to Yale in 7:13.18.
The men raced in a very light headwind with occasional rain and Princeton's Varsity 8 took the Platt Cup, crossing the finish line in six minutes flat. Cornell was three seconds back and Rutgers placed third in 6:07.3. The Tigers also won the Second Varsity, Third Varsity and Novice 8 races with open water, but finished behind Cornell in the Second Freshman Four
