Del Calvo and Finley Named Ivy League Sports.com Softball Player and Rookie of the Week

Princeton, N.J. - Kristin Del Calvo and Melissa Finley have been named the Ivy League Player and Ivy League Rookie of the week for April 15-21. Brie Galicinao was named to the Honor Roll. Princeton captured its first softball Ivy championship since 1996 with doubleheader sweeps of Yale and Brown this past weekend.
Del Calvo registered a total of six RBIs against Yale, including five in a game two when she blasted a n NCAA record-tying three homeruns. In the six Princeton victories last week, including a doubleheader against Monmouth, Del Calvo batted .391 with four home runs, five runs scored, and RBIs. She has set the Princeton single season home run record, and currently has 12 year.
Finley hit two home runs, including one grand slam as the Tigers defeated Brown 6-1 in the second game of the doubleheader. Earlier in the day, Princeton defeated Brown, 10-3 in a game where Finley hit 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored. She also picked up an Ivy win against Yale, allowing just two hits and striking out four in a 10-1 Princeton victory. This is her first rookie of the week award.
Galicinao went 3-0 for the Tigers last week with three complete games. She allowed only one hit and struck out 11 in a win against Monmouth. In Ivy games, Galicinao struck out 12 total batters in two Tiger wins, allowing four runs and nine hits in fourteen innings pitched. She went a perfect 7-0 against League opponents this season.
