PRINCETON, NJ - Judson Williams and Nick Benjamin each picked up singles wins, but it was not enough to overtake Brown, which handed Princeton a 5-2 loss in Ivy League men's tennis action on Friday afternoon at Jadwin Gymnasium. The Tigers drop to 8-7, 1-1 Ivy with the loss.
Brown got the early edge in the match by winning two out of three doubles matched to take the doubles point. Hendrick Chasse and Trevor Smith knocked off Brown's Jamie Cerratini and Nicholas Goldberg for the Tigers' only doubles win.
Williams opened the singles action with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Justin Natale at the number one position, but the Bears swept the next four matches in the lineup to clinch the victory. Nick Malone defeated Smith, 6-4, 6-2 at second singles and Ceratini survived a tight first set for a 7-6 (2), 6-2 win over Burman at third singles. Chris Drake defeated Tim Kofol 6-4, 6-3 and Adil Shamasdin picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win over Dan Firedman at the fifth position.
