Simmons Captures 800m at Track and Field's ECAC Championships

Princeton, N.J. - Lauren Simmons captured the 800m title with a time of 2:09.20 as the Tigers competed at the 2002 ECAC outdoor track and field championships. Princeton served as host to the meet that featured more than 1000 athletes from over 100 schools. The Tigers finished in 23rd place with 15 total points.
Simmons qualified for the finals of the 800m with a time of 2:07.30. This season, Simmons recorded the 12th fastest time in the country, 2:05.23 at the Duke Invitational and captured the outdoor HEPS title with a time of 2:07.03.
Hasina Outtz tallied five points for the Tigers when she finished fourth in the 400m hurdles. Outtz crossed the finish line in 1:00.01, registering a personal best this season. Thema Napier of Maryland won the event with a time of 57,73. A week ago, Outtz captured the 400m hurdles Heptagonal championship, crossing the finish line at 1:00.78.
Catherine Casey finished 13th in the 5,000m, crossing the finish line at 17:01.45. Casey had provisionally qualified for the NCAA championship when she recorded a time of 16:33.46 at the Stanford Invitational on March 29.
Competing in the pole vault competition, Celo Canino failed to record a height.
Seton Hall captured the meet title with a total of 82 points.
