Thoughts from the parent of a prospective student:
Dear Coach New,
As a parent of a rising high school junior, I am all too aware of the need to focus on the process of choosing a college for my son. We had just begun to make initial visits to college campuses when you suggested that he visit you at Princeton. The Admissions information session and tour were excellent, but his visit with you was truly educational. Your explanation of the admissions process and the role of athletes at Princeton provided key information for my son. We are delighted with your view of yourself not only as athletic coach, but as educator and your strong commitment to the academic education of your wrestlers. My son left his meeting with you feeling that he could be both athlete and scholar as a wrestler at Princeton. He also understood that you would work carefully with him as an individual to help him develop his full potential as a wrestler.
Princeton promotes its academic experience as one in which excellence is key. Clearly you are providing the same athletic experience. Thank you for starting our college search so well. The meeting with you was a fabulous introduction to this process. My son will most certainly be looking at Princeton very seriously. Certainly it is a superb school, but knowing that he could pursue a sport he loves with a coach like you makes a critical difference in his interest.
Thank you for showing so much interest and for taking time to meet with us.
