PRINCETON, NJ - Kevin Lake will join the Princeton wrestling staff as an assistant coach for the 2002-03 season. Lake served as the head wrestling coach at MacMurray (Ill.) College during 2001-02.
"Kevin is a great addition to our program," says Princeton head coach Michael New. "His philosophy and work ethic will fit nicely with Princeton wrestling. The wrestling community needs people like Kevin Lake. He understands that there is much more to each wrestler than the outcome of an individual match. We have one of the best coaching staffs in the country because we all know and understand that coaching is the art of developing the youth. We are nurturing, mentoring, and challenging the leaders of tomorrow."
Prior to the 2001-2002 season he served as an assistant coach at Central Michigan. The nationally ranked Chippewas won two Mid-American Conference championships and produced three All-Americas during Lake's stint at Central Michigan.
A 1998 graduate of Mancherster (Ind.) College, Lake was a four-year member of the Spartans wrestling team. The Spartans captured four Indiana Collegiate Athletic Conference titles and placed in the top 10 of the NCAA Division III championships three times.
"I am very excited to join the Princeton tradition," said Lake. "This is a great program from the university to the athletic department to the strength of the alumni and of course the talented group of young men that wear the Orange and Black."
Lake earned a bachelor of science degree from Manchester College and has recently completed work on his Masters in Sports Administration at Central Michigan University
