Women's Swim Team Defeats Northeastern

Princeton, N.J. - Princeton swimmers placed first in 10 of 16 events as the Tigers improved to 5-0 on the year with a 155-133 win over Northeastern on Saturday afternoon at DeNunzio Pool. Seven different swimmers won individual events for Princeton, which has now won 37 straight dual-meets.
The 200-yard medley relay team consisting of Lisa Battaglia, Chrissy Holland, Molly Seto and Sarah Frauman opened the meet with a win and a time of 1:48.89. Junior Stephanie Wright led a 1-2-3 Princeton finish in event two, the 400-yard IM, and the Tigers were in control early.
Princeton freshmen stepped up in the next three events with Libby Engelmeier winning the 200-yard backstroke, Kitsie Kerner winning the 100-yard backstroke and Eieen Altenburger taking the 200-yard butterfly. Altenburger also won the 500-yard freestyle for Princeton.
The upperclassmen were also strong with seniors Meagan Donahue (50-yard freestyle), Molly Seto (100-yard freestyle) and Holland (200-yard breaststroke) all winning events. Junior Claire Pearson won the 200-yard backstroke to round out the Tiger victories.
Northeastern is now 5-2 on the year, falling to Harvard and Princeton. The Tigers are off for exams and resume competition on January 26 at Dartmouth. Princeton is 3-0 in the Ivy League this season. The meet at Dartmouth is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. start.
