Through the first month of the women's soccer season, only a trio of officials - or lack of them - have slowed down Esmeralda Negron.
Negron has scored at least one goal in every Princeton game this season, and she had a three-goal, one-assist week last week as the Tigers won a pair of games, including their Ivy League opener against Yale.
Negron, whose team saw its game at Stony Brook Monday night cancelled when no officials showed up for the game, was honored by both SoccerBuzz and Soccer America with their national team of the week selections. It was the second time in her career that she has been named to the SoccerBuzz Elite Team of the Week. Negron was also named to the Ivy League honor roll.
Her eight goals through seven games equalled her team-high season total of last year. She now has 22 for her career, which leaves her eighth all-time at Princeton; she needs four more goals to move all the way to second.
In addition, her 1.14 goals per game lead the Ivy League and rank ninth nationally. She also leads the Ivy League with 2.57 points per game, which ranks 10th nationally.
Princeton (6-0-1) is at Dartmouth Sunday.
