Women's Golf Climbs to Fifth on Final Day of Nittany Lion Invitational

State College, Pa. - The Princeton women's golf team shot a third-round 311 to climb to a fifth-place overall finish at the Nittany Lion Invitational at Penn State's Blue Course. The Tigers were in sixth after Day 1, but passed Ohio, today to climb into the top 5. For the second weekend in a row, Meg Nakamura was Princeton's top finisher.
The Tigers completed the tournament 42 shots behind first-place James Madison. Penn State, Rollins, and Maryland finished ahead of the Tigers. Princeton topped Ohio by five strokes and finished 15 shots ahead of Yale and Bowling Green, which tied for seventh.
The individual winner was Carol Green of James Madison with a four-under 212 for the tournament. Nakamura was 15 strokes behind her at +11 in a tie for ninth after shooting a three-over 75 today. Avery Kiser used a one-over 73 to climb nine spots on the final day of the tournament and finished 15th, 15-over par.
Next for Princeton came Sharla Cloutier (26th, +19), Taryn Haladay (t-44th, +33) and Esty Dwek (t-55th, +41), were all part of the Princeton scoring group.
Christina Norair played individually and finished tied for 44th (+33).
The Tigers have the next two weekends off and then resume play the weekend of Nov. 1-2 at the 26th Pat Bradley Golden Panther Championships in Doral, Fla.
