Tigers Can't Catch Eagles In Men's Soccer

PRINCETON, N.J. - Erik White and Bobby Guelich combined for eight saves but American out-shot the Tigers 14 to four to defeat Princeton 3-0 in Washington D.C.
American dominated from the start, taking seven shots and three corner kicks in the first half compared with just three shots and no corner kicks by the Tigers. White had four saves in the first half but the Eagles scored at 57:25 off a penalty kick by junior midfielder Shawn Kuykendall.
American led 1-0 at the break and came out as strong in the second half. Junior forward Andrew Herman scored on breakaway pass from senior defender Brett Neibling at 62:27 and David Marut slipped a shot past White less than four minutes later. Princeton took no shots and no corner kicks in the second half.
White finished with seven saves while Guelich, who replaced White with 17:45 to play, added one. Marty Shaw, Kyle McHugh and Ryan Rich took the only three shots for the Tigers.
Princeton drops to 4-4-2 but gets back on its home field this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. against Columbia. Both teams are 1-1 in the Ivy League.
