Esmeralda Negron has been named the Ivy League women's soccer Player of the Week.
Negron, a junior from Harrington Park, N.J., had three goals and an assist as Princeton defeated Boston University 2-0 and Columbia 3-0. She now has 11 goals and 25 points on the season, both fourth on Princeton's single-season list. She also ranks fourth with 24 career goals and sixth with 53 career points.
Negron and the Tigers (9-1-2, 3-1-0 Ivy League) are off until Saturday, when they travel to Harvard to take on a Crimson team that has dominated Princeton in recent years. Julie Shackford is 1-7 against Harvard as Princeton head coach, and the Tigers have been outscored 21-2 during that time.
Princeton's lone win over Harvard came two years ago, in the last visit to Cambridge. Harvard defeated Princeton 1-0 in overtime last year in Princeton's lone Ivy League loss.
