PRINCETON, N.J. - The men's soccer team will attempt to break .500 in the Ivy League this weekend when the Tigers (1-1-1 Ivy League) face Harvard (0-2-1) at Ohiri Field in Cambridge, Mass. The game starts at 1:30 p.m. and caps a day of Princeton-Harvard matchups in four sports.
Princeton is 4-4-3 overall and comes off a scoreless tie with Columbia last weekend. The Tigers battled evenly with the Lions for 110 minutes and showed much improvement from their previous two games, a 3-1 loss at Brown and a 3-0 loss at American. Erik White has 38 saves and a .717 save percentage while Darren Spicer leads the offense with three goals.
For the Crimson, Matt Hoff has a team-high 11 points off five goals and an assist, and Kevin Ara has three goals and two assists for eight points. Ryan Johnson has played nine of 12 games in goal, recording a 1.08 goals against average and an .825 save percentage. Conrad Jones contributed in 213 minutes, when he made 10 saves and allowed one goal for a .909 save percentage. Harvard, who lost 3-0 to Brown last weekend, is 5-4-3 overall.
At the halfway point of the Ivy League schedule, Princeton is tied for fourth with Columbia while Harvard is tied for seventh with Dartmouth. Brown stands alone at the top of the league with a perfect 3-0 record, followed by Cornell (2-0-1) and Yale (2-1-0).
Brown faces Cornell this weekend in a battle of the unbeatens while Princeton and Harvard look to climb above Columbia, Dartmouth, Penn and Yale.
