Men's Tennis Sweeps St. Joseph's And Stony Brook

Princeton, N.J. - The Princeton men's tennis team earned a pair of non-conference victories with wins over St. Joseph's and Stony Brook on Friday evening at Jadwin Gym. The Tigers downed St. Joseph's 6-1 in the early match and defeated Stony Brook 5-2 in the nightcap.
After winning the doubles point against St. Joseph's, Princeton took each of the first four singles matches to have the contest well in hand. Princeton's No. 1 doubles tandem of Trevor Smith and Josh Burman earned an 8-5 win and then earned wins in No. 1 and No. 2 singles to give the Tigers the early jump.
Four of Princeton's five singles wins came in straight sets against St. Joseph's. That same trend would continue against Stony Brook; however with a little more angst. The Tigers won four singles points in straight sets, but dropped a doubles point to open the match. Princeton won No. 1 through No. 5 singles to get the win.
"The second match was a little closer than we had hoped," says Princeton head coach Glenn Michibata. "But I'm glad to see we could pull it out. Overall, we still played well."
The Tigers face George Washington tomorrow at 4 p.m. That match is at home and will be played on E-Level in Jadwin Gym. Princeton is 6-3 overall this season and in the midst of a six-match homestand.
