San Diego - The Princeton women's tennis team dropped the first match of its spring break road trip this afternoon to the 29th-ranked San Diego State Aztecs 5-2 at the SDSU Tennis Courts. Princeton's Kavitha Krishnamurthy and Allison Hasmall earned wins for the Tigers at first and third singles, each coming in three-set super-tiebreakers.
The Aztecs won all three doubles matches and four of six singles matches to drop the Tigers to 7-3 on the season.
San Diego State swept all three doubles matches to claim the first point of the match. The Aztecs then won the first four singles matches to take a 5-0 lead before the Tigers won the last two matches of the afternoon. First Krishnamurthy rallied after dropping the first set to Silvia Tornier to take the second 7-6. She then won the tiebreaker to take the match. That was followed by Hashmall's win. She won the first set 7-5, but dropped the second 7-6. She recovered by taking the tiebreaker. The Tigers continue their California trip on Thursday against Loyola Marymount.
