Princeton, N.J. - Princeton wrestler Greg Parker was today announced as the second seed at 184 lbs for the 2003 NCAA Wrestling Championships held this coming weekend in Kansas City, Mo. Parker, a defending NCAA finalist at 174 lbs., will meet Tony D'Amico of Boise State in the first round.
Parker is 22-4 this season and enters the NCAA Championships coming off his second consecutive EIWA title. He won EIWA's with a pin of Cornell's Clint Wattenberg who is seeded third in the tournament. The way the tournament is seeded, there is a chance that the two will meet for a third time this season in the semifinals.
On the other side of the bracket are the tournament's first and fourth seeds. The top seed is Oklahoma's Jessman Smith while the fourth seed is Missouri's Scott Barker. Parker and Smith have never met on the mat, while Parker and Barker have locked horns once earlier this season, with Barker claiming the win.
The NCAA championships begin on Thursday, March 20 at 10 a.m.
