Los Angeles - The Princeton men's tennis team defeated Loyola Marymount 4-3 Wednesday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Center. The Tigers, ranked 65th in the latest poll, improved to 9-3 on the season and 1-1 on their California spring break trip.
Princeton began the day by sweeping all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles, the 31st-ranked team of Trevor Smith and Josh Burman earned an 8-2 win over the 42nd-ranked team of Leopold Graeubig and Michael Wojnarowicz. Princeton also claimed wins from the team of Daniel Friedman and Darius Craton and the duo of Tim Kofol and Andrew Lieu. The two squads then split the six singles matches. The Lions won at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4, while Princeton wion at No. 3 and No. 5 from Craton and Friedman. That meant the decding point would come at No. 6 where Lieu used a straight-set victory to clincht he win for the Tigers.
Princeton resumes its schedule on Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m., when the Tigers take on No. 29 San Diego.
