San Diego Bests Women's Tennis 5-2

San Diego, Calif. - The Princeton women's tennis team started strong by gaining the doubles point but injuries plagued them in the singles portion as the Tigers fell to San Diego 5-2 Saturday afternoon in San Diego.
Princeton began the day with wins at the No. 1 and 3 doubles spots. Avantika Bhargava and Mateya McCoy topped Jenny Brown and Lauren Kazarian 9-8 (7-5) at No. 1 and Stephanie Berg and Alex Kobishyn won 8-2 at No. 3.
In singles competition, Princeton claimed its lone win a No. 3 from Jessica Siebel. Siebel defeated Tara Livesay 7-6 in the first set before Livesay had to retire.
DOUBLES
1. Avantika Bhargava/Mateya McCoy (P) defeated Jenny Brown/Lauren Kazarian 9-8 (7-5)
2. Alison Hashmall/Jessica Siebel (P) lost to Tara Livesay/Emma Murphy 8-4
3. Stephanie Berg/Alex Kobishyn (P) defeated Lauren Leo/Karen Pearl 8-2
SINGLES
1. Alison Hashmall (P) lost to Karen Pearl 6-0, 6-2
2. Stephanie Berg (P) lost to Emma Murphy 6-4, 6-2
3. Jessica Siebel (P) defeated Tara Livesay 7-6, 1-1 Ret.
4. Mateya McCoy (P) lost to Lauren Kazarian 6-4, 6-4
5. Avantika Bhargava (P) lost to Lauren Leo 6-3, 6-3
