Women's Track Team Opens Outdoor Season At Long Beach Collegiate Classic

Long Beach, Calif. - Hasina Outtz was one of three Tigers to win individual events at the 2003 Long Beach Collegiate Classic in Long Beach, Calif. on Saturday. Outtz, who won the 400-meter hurdles, was joined by Cack Ferrell and Betsy Kennedy in Princeton's winner's circle.
Outtz won the 400 hurdles in 1:00.80 while teammate Jenn Byrd placed fifth with a time of 1:05.34. Outtz and Byrd place second and seventh respectively in the 100-meter hurdle event earlier in the day.
Ferrell victory came in the 1,500-meter run, a race in which Princeton placed first, third and fifth. Ferrell's time of 4:35.29 led the pack while Tiger Carrie Strickland ran a 4:37.48 and placed third. Emily Kroshus finished fifth in 4:38.91.
In the field events, Kennedy was Princeton's lone winner, capturing the javelin with a throw of 127-03.
The Tigers finished the day with 43 team points and finished fourth in team scoring. Cornell wonthe invitational with 76 points, Weber State was second with 72 points and host Long Beach State finished third with a team score of 63.

Princeton returns to the East Coast where it hosts the Sam Howell Invitational the first weekend of April.
