Softball Ends Spring Break With 4-2 Win Over Boston

MARIETTA, Ga. - Erin Snyder struck out 14 Terriers as Princeton defeated Boston University 4-2 in the final game of the Buzz Classic and Princeton's week long trip to Georgia.
In the top of the first, Boston's shortstop Jamie Haas singled into center field with one out and two strikes against her but Erin Snyder struck out the next two batters and left her on base.
After Wendy Bingham and Christina Cobb-Adams both reached first and were tagged out at second, Kristin Del Calvo singled and Melissa Finley hammered her third homer of the week for a 2-0 lead before the end of the first. With two outs and a full count, Haas walked and Abbey Pauley brought her home with a double over Bingham in right field. Snyder struck out the next batter, her sixth strikeout in three innings, to end the bottom of third with the Tigers up 2-1.
Erin Valocsik grounded up the middle for a single in the fourth and Snyder followed with a fly to center field that put runners on first and second. Freshman Amanda Erickson ripped a double that scored Valocsik before catcher Ty Ries singled past third to score Snyder. When Julie Henneke's pitch hit Kristin Lueke, the Tigers loaded the bases and forced the Terriers to enter relief pitcher Tiffany Finaneti to end the inning,. Princeton finished the fourth with three left of base, but ahead 4-1.
Snyder struck out five of seven batters in the fifth and sixth innings but allowed a homer by Erin McDonald to bring the score to 4-2 in the seventh.
Princeton improves to 3-7 and returns from Spring Break to play Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J. this Tuesday.
